It snowed heavily here the Saturday before Easter and neither me nor Mercury Man wanted to go to the store to get Easter goodies…we kept putting it off. I usually make their baskets but kept putting that off as well. Long story short I went to bed intending to lay down for a little bit then get up and go to the store, make the baskets, etc. (we have a 24-hour grocery store here) only to sleep straight through till morning. We woke up to the boys knocking on our door plaintively saying Happy Easter. T-bop said to me, Mom I know I’m too big to believe in the Easter Bunny but why didn’t he come this year? Oh my word, I felt so bad. I told him that the Easter Bunny wasn’t used to traveling in bad weather; he must have gotten held up because of the storm.

Mercury Man went to the store while I stalled for time. I didn’t have time to make the regular boxes that I do so I made some goody bags with handles out of store plastic bags. I taped a banner with their name on it and a photo, and filled the bottom of each bag with balled up newspaper for support, then covered that with shredded paper for ‘grass’. I used 2 plastic bags for each bag base and 4 bags twisted together for the handles. It took me about 15 minutes to make all 3 bags. Then filled with candy, fruit, and play stuff like bubbles.

I set them on the couch on the porch and Mercury man made a big deal of thumping about, then we called the kids downstairs and told them we heard something on the porch. They go look and find their baskets. They were too happy! Then after going through their bags told us how obvious and corny we were, ha ha. S-bop was like, Mom, you gott learn to be subtle. Ha!

Then later went over my in-laws. Overall it was a nice relaxing day, an enjoyable Easter. It snowed Easter, too, all day long, which sucked, but oh well.
