Spring is coming ya’ll! I am so happy and excited about that. We got some of the recent ice storm that hit the east over the weekend, but it was not bad compared to the blizzard a few weeks ago. It is still cold here but I can feel Spring in the air.

I am planning my spring party, and this year I want to do it right i.e send out invitations well in advance and get confirmation from folks about coming. Last year I had folks telling me after the fact that they wish they had came but I called all last minute or they didn’t realize it was a ‘party’ and not just me having a few people over.

I want it to be inclusive of kids, natch, but thinking it be great to set aside a room or area of the house for the kids. We went to sisterstu’s New Years Eve party and they had a party place for the kids in the basement. It worked out great, most of the kids stayed there, coming in and out periodically to check on their parents, then going back to play. I don’t know though.

So far my agenda is to have the party start late afternoon, then open buffet (I’m asking folks to bring their own alcohol but we’re making all the food), eating and mingling for a while inside then going outside in the backyard. Then having a bonfire and toasting marshmallows (I found a vegan source) and stuff. Then open mike time for anybody to say a spring poem, then singing. I-bop said she will play her guitar and some friends from her old band are coming and they will probably play.

I also want to give everybody a mini-pot made from newspaper with a little dirt and a seed inside to take home, as I love gardening and want to share this love of mine! The kids said we shoudl probably start the little pots now so they are sprouted by the party. Oh yah! It’s in April, the second Saturday.

Are you having a Spring Celebration? What are your plans?
