Question of the day:
What does it mean to you to be healthy?

For me being healthy is the absence of disease or affliction. In the case of a permanent issue, health can be maintained by taking the proper medicine, herbs, and/or following the advice of a health care provider.

I relation to weight being overweight can cause, trigger, or exacerbate life long diseases and afflictions. I know that there are overweight people who are healthy and strong and vibrant and have no issues caused or affected by their weight. I think that is great, however I am not willing to continue risking my health to see if I will be one of those people. I have a high risk for things like diabetes, heart attack and stroke, fibroids, cysts, and other gynecological problems, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and more. I have relatives on both sides of my family who had/have these issues that were triggered by obesity, and I have relatives who were able to come off expensive medication once they were no longer obese.

Plus I already have a minor heart defect I was born with, I don’t need to stress my heart further by continuing to carry extra weight… I feel that for me being obese is like playing russian roulette. It’s just simply too high of a risk.

I feel the best way to lose weight
is to stop overeating and make exercise a regular, daily part of my life. I don’t believe in diets because everytime I went on one, when it was over I went right back to my gluttinous ways. I think that to lose weight effectively you have to retrain yourself about how you eat. You have to learn to drink lots of water. and most importantly you have to learn to move your body, every single day. We are not made to sit around, lay about…our bodies were made to move, to walk a lot.

Man, this mornind around 7ish it was
0 degrees. I was not about to go outside, the weather people on TV were all, It feels like -20! Your skin can freeze in seconds! Don’t go out if you don’t have to! Keep children and pets indoors and check on the elderly! This is winter madness! We think it is the start of a new ice age! and so on and son. Man, last winter was so nice, people got in deep with their pretend amnesia about winter. Folks are all kinds of stunned here, it’s amost comical.

So I just did my morning walk indoors and sat by a window for 30 minutes to try and get some sunlight that way. Then I went back to bed. Later we’re going to the boys’ wrestling meets…I’m thinking about going to the Y before then, do the elliptical for a bit and the treadmill. I don’t know if I can go out twice today, eh.

If I don’t go I’ll do this old MTV dance workout video. It’s very corny but funny and upbeat. :) Then I will do some yoga and more indoor marching.
