I have been following the stories of the 2 abducted teens found recently. There has been much speculation about why the 1st boy stayed with his captor even though he apparantly was allowed to walk around, get on the computer, and even reported a missing bike to police at one point without every identifying himself as a missing child. Oprah had an expert on her show who tried to explain it, but I don’t think he did a good job.
There are adults, grown men and women who join cults and endure all sorts of horrific abuse even death, and grown women (primarily it’s women) who stay in relationships where they are emotionally and physically abused, some to death. I don’t know why it’s so hard to understand that this poor boy, who did not join or decide to participate in this but was forced, was psychologically broken down and spiritually shattered. To the point where he felt he could not leave, or would not risk his family being killed. Because that is what this guy probably told him, that he would kill his parents, his entire family.
I want to talk more about this but gotta get to work, will be back.

Hell yes…I just don’t get how people don’t understand that he is a kid and was scared! And I have a beef with Oprah (and others in the media) doing a show on this already. Give the families time to heal.
