I am a coffee addict, pure and simple. I really need to quit, because coffee is very hard on the body. I am 34 now and I really need to get my health in order. People tell me all the time that I look like I’m in my early 20s, and certainly can act like I’m in my 20s, but I’m not in my 20s, so I just can’t throw all the bad stuff off anymore. Drinking coffee lately makes me feel like I’m in my 90s, man. When I first drink it I feel great, awesome, full of pep. But what goes up must come down, and lately that down feeling hurts me, I feel like I literally fell down or something.

Plus I have a mild heart condition (a heart murmur) so I need to be very wary of any caffeine consumption, not just coffee. My heart rhythm is already jacked up, and here I go upsetting it even more. I thought I was doing so good cutting my coffee down to just one a day, ‘cause up until I was 32ish I was drinking pots of coffee a day, but my body can’t even handle onesmall cup. Ok it’s a 22oz cup.

Not to mention I am vegan and into fitness and healthy stuff. Drinking coffee just doesn’t fit into my self-image. I was reading over at Steve’s blog and he has great tips on How to Give Up Coffee. I am going to try his method, wish me luck!

Another reason to quit: it interferes with calcium absorption. So quit the caffiene and give your bones a boost!

(but, uh…I can’t seem to kick the habit either so good luck.)

Thank you! I need all the luck I can get. Today I had a bad dizzy spell after drinking my 22oz mug of coffee. I think my body is trying to tell me something…it is definitely time to stop.

Caffiene interferes with the absorption of everything.

But girl, I know it be feelig sooooo good.

Try out some tea. Green and Ginger kicks for me.

Thanks!! I sure hope I can, it’s a fierce addiction.

@model minority: I am going to try green tea. Lately I have been drinking a slot of blueberry tea, thansk for the suggestion. non-herbal tea is out because it has caffiene in it.

@sondjata: You know I went vegan last year, right? Maaaaaaan, going vegan was hard but so much easier than this! I am feeling serious withdrawal and it’s only been one day. I guess I really am going to have to do the gradual withdrawal, cold-turkey is nuts!
