I have started doing this, in part because I am in the process of de-cluttering my house and in part because we are planning to build a small one-story straw bale house…we won’t have enough room for all the stuff we have now in the smaller house. Over the holidays my kids and I cleaned up our front porch, which was basically their toy room. We ended up with 6 bags of garbage (broken toys) and 2 bags of good toys to give away. In November I gave away a bunch of bags of clothes as well. Next thing I need to do is get a handle on all our books. I’m opening a bookstore in March so that will take care of all the ‘excess’ books we have, so that we don’t have piles and piles of books around. I can’t bear to part with them, that will be very hard, because books to me are such treasures.
