I have no words for the grief I feel. This woman means so much to me. My mother had to ride in the backs of buses. I am one generation from this level of racism and hatred by white people towards black americans. RIP sister. The struggle continues.

RIP Rosa Parks

The woman credited with starting the modern civil rights movement by refusing to give up her seat on a bus, has died at age 92.

Mrs. Parks died at her home of natural causes, said Karen Morgan, a spokeswoman for U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich.

Mrs. Parks was 42 when she committed that act defiance in 1955 that was to change the course of American history and earn her the title “mother of the civil rights movement.”
