I had early morning coffee with one of my Amy friends (I have like 5 friends named Amy) this morning. It was great! She is so cool. She had her little boy with her, and he is such a treasure. I adore her so much, she is so down to earth and so easy to talk to. She listens and is so emphatic. And she’s so interesting, I love listening to her talk. She has the most expressive eyes. We talked about a ton of stuff in the little time we had together; the Brians (both our husband’s are named Brian), the MamaGathering, Our MIL’s, jobs, the kids, politics, and stuff.

Lunch hour I was able to see my friend Maria, she is helping me with my Mama Songs CD and has finished her tracks. I thought she just wanted to hear me listen to some samples but she was done! blew me away, I like both songs, she is awesome. Her kids were both in school so I didn’t get a chance to see them. She bitched alot about her job and lack of funds which I totally relate to, so we commiserated a while on being broke struggling creative mamas. I said Seriously we have got to break out of being perpetually broke. She said word, let’s make some ends with this CD. It’s cool doing biz with her because unlike some of my other artsy creative friends she does not think money is an evil in and of itself or that we would be ‘selling out’ when we make some money.

I also got to talk with my friend Alonda, I haven’t seen her in about a month or so. She has her hands full, she has a new baby and a baby about a year and a half and she went back to work recently, but she sounded great. We had a long talk on my bus ride home. I am sure I irritated a few folks with my cell phone convo but oh well, I needed to talk to my friend and that was the only time she could talk. She rarely calls me due to the babies and work and all so when I see her number on caller ID I take the call. She is a sweetheart. Her and the kids might come over next week!

On a bad note, I have not talked to Samira in over a week! This is my BEST friend in the world, I am being such a bad friend. We usually talk to each other every other day if not every day. I will definitely call her tomorrow. I know she’s been as busy as I’ve been, man. Maybe she can come over and we can sit and chill. Her little boy is the same age as my youngest son so they can run around and play while we talk. I also meant to call my friend Gloria this week too, I haven’t talked to her in FOREVER. She runs a website and support group called Latina Mami and she is a trip, a really good writer, full of fun, and awesome mama. I will call her and email her tomorrow.
